The following are the core items you need. Everything else can follow afterwards. Be sure to invest on the following since they’re core items.
Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer – You may choose among liquid foundations, cream foundations, tinted moisturizers, and BB/CC creams. It depends on what you prefer (whitening, with SPF, etc). Be sure to have one that you’ll really fall in love with. When selecting shades, swatch it on your jawline, not on your wrist.
Concealer – It can be used for covering unwanted blemishes, brightening circles around the eyes, and highlighting. Again, you can choose among liquid, cream, or stick. Make sure that you choose a shade that is a bit lighter than your foundation.
Face Powder – Aside from controlling oiliness and giving you a matte look, face powder also sets your foundation and concealer, locking those into your skin.
Bronzer – It gives you that healthy glow and helps you contour your face.
Nude Eyeshadow palette – It doesn’t have to be 100 colors! Just 4 or 5 will do long as it has your skin tone, a brown one, and a black one. It will be used (not for smokey) but for locking in eye liner and eyebrow pencil.
Eyeliner – Whether it’s liquid, gel, or pencil, you can choose whatever long as you apply it carefully and not generously. Liquid can be shiny (unnatural look) so mattify it with eye shadow once it has dried. Apply eye shadow, too, onto your penciled eyes to lock it in and lessen smudging. Start on the middle part of your eyelid and extend outwards (upwards). Use pencil for your waterline.
Mascara – This will give you the illusion of thicker lashes and remove white/color powders on your lashes (from eyeshadow or face powder). You can live without a lash curler, just apply more mascara at the roots of your lashes and less at the tips then comb (with that little comb attached onto a brow brush) to even out the mascara.
Brow Pencil – You can skip the brush if you have practiced hands. Just mimic natural brow hairs by lightly stroking “hairs” onto your eyebrows instead of filling them in. Use eye shadow to set/lock it in.
Nude lipstick – Don’t underestimate the power of a good nude. It accentuates your beautiful and clean eye makeup.
